The Veer Demalu Memorial College was established by the conscious public of the locality Lalungdubi. The founder secretary was Late Santlal Baderbaiga, and the founder chairman was Late Kashiram Nabensa. Due to the increasing number of students striving to seek higher education from the locality, and the limited facilities available in nearby colleges, many students were unable to fulfill their aspirations for higher education.
Hence, the people of Lalungdubi, Alisingha, Bordolong, Arabari, Barman Pathar, Lanka Veta, Panch Bandar, Krishna Nagar, Kharikhana, Majh Basti, Bilgaon, Shimlai, Dogaon, etc., in a general meeting held on 17.04.2004, decided to open a degree college named Veer Demalu Memorial College at Lalungdubi, District Nagaon, so that the youth of the area could attain higher education. Accordingly, the college was established in the year 2004 in Lalungdubi under Bordolong Lanka Tribal belt.
In this regard, Honble MP Sri Biswajit Boimari provided ?10 lakhs, and Sri Chandan Brahma, Honble Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development & Tourism, provided ?15 lakhs for the college.
A construction committee was formed as per the instruction of the DC of Nagaon. Sri Mayasing Baulagupu, then Deputy Director of FCS & CA, was appointed Chairman of the committee.
Sri Mayasing Daulagupu donated one RCC room (2027 ft) and a foundation for the Demalu statue. Another room (2013 ft) was jointly donated by Sri Mayasing Daulagupu and Biresh Malakar. The roof work and ?15,000, along with 3000 bricks, were provided by Sri Biresh Malakar. The remaining expenses were borne by M. S. Daulagupu.
